The “Train the Trainer Workshop”
was held for the very first time by the Foundation
in Science (Medical/ Pharmacy) from 10 – 13
January 2007. The venue, Residence Hotel at Uniten
Bangi, provided a conducive environment for the
course instructors to focus at the agenda prepared
for them. Part of the objectives of this programme
was to discriminate different types of learning
management and effective teaching skills, to
utilize the use of I.T in teaching and sourcing,
to demonstrate and identify learner motivation and
effective learning in lectures, plus giving a more
impactful teaching.
To kick start, the first session
stressed on the importance of technology in
teaching and lesson preparation. The session
created greater awareness in using information
technology as a powerful tool that can be greatly
manipulated in the teaching profession.
Apart from that, external
moderators were invited to review and give
guidance in the preparation of modules for course
instructors of Chemistry, Biology, Physics and
Professional Communication and Presentation. Also,
instructors were refreshed with many new ideas of
designing higher order questions and testing
techniques.
A much-awaited programme such as
this has helped in showing the university's
commitment towards enhancing its overall quality
and competitiveness in education. More
importantly, this programme has provided a
platform where knowledge is free flowing and
articulated professionally. |
