The main objective of this project was
to create awareness among the community of CUCMS
regarding organ donation and dispel any misconceptions
they may have on the issue. The project was an
assignment given to the Moral Education students doing
the MPW153 paper to inculcate values such as empathy,
kindness towards those who are disadvantaged and less
fortunate
The National Transplant Resource Centre
(NTRC) lent us a hand by sending. Datin Dr Fadhilah
Zowyah Lela Yasmin Mansor the chief coordinator of Pusat
Sumber Transplan Nasional and a team over to the
University for the event. The other VIPs included the
president of CUCMS Tan Sri Dr. Johari Mat, the Provost
Dr. Mohamad Salmi Mohd. Sohod, the academics as well as
the administrative wing of the university.
The event began with speech from the
organizing chairman of the event Mr Ashwin Dey followed
by a welcoming speech by our president. Datin Dr Lela
presented a heart-rendering talk on the futile plight of
hundreds of patients awaiting organs donation and why
this situation need not be so. The climax of this event
saw a significant number of students signing up as organ
pledgers on the stage witnessed by all. After the
launch, booths were put up to register other would be
donors. The booths operated until 4.00 pm. There were a
total of 27 donors.
Everyone present benefited from the
project as they gained valuable insights into organ
donations. Participants learnt the plight of others and
the call of those in need. Their kindness will benefit
many in the near future and it will also indirectly
improve the healthcare system in Malaysia . This project
also gave the students the opportunity to inculcate
values that parallels the motto of the university :
Nurturing the Passion to Care.
The moral education class of May 2007
would like to thank everyone who made it possible for
them to carry out this project successfully. Thanks are
also due to the management of CUCMS for sponsoring the
entire cost of this event. |
