The Foundation Programme of
Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences
(CUCMS) organized a “Meet the Parents” Session on
30 September 2006. The session was held at the
lecture rooms in the Foundation building from 9.00
a.m. to 12.00 noon.
One of the objectives of this
session is to create an opportunity for both the
parents and lecturers to meet and discuss
students' performance in the previous semester. It
is our intention to foster a close rapport between
the parents and lecturers.
The session began at 9.00 am with
the assigned lecturers handing out the results
slips to the parents. By 9.30 am, the room was
filled with parents and students who were eager to
discuss the academic results with the respective
lecturers. Dr. Basir, Head of Foundation in
Sciences, gave a welcoming speech to the parents.
After the speech, the subject lecturers had
productive discussions with the parents and
students. While waiting for their turns, the
parents and the students were entertained with
video clips of the student-centred learning (SCL)
method, students' academic and non-academic
activities and their lifestyle in CUCMS.
The session turned out to be a
great success as it lasted until 2.30 pm. This
shows the encouraging support from the parents
towards the academic performance of the students.
The cooperation of the lecturers and the
administrative staff is greatly appreciated for
making it an eventful and memorable session. We
even had requests from some parents to continue
having this event for other semesters as
well. |
