            Dato’ Abu has over years experience as an academician at several of universities and best practice management and quality management.  He used to hold various managerial positions including Deputy Vice Chancellor [University Teknikal M’sia Melaka (UTeM)], Deputy Rector [Kolej University Teknikal Kebangsaan M’sia (KUTKM)], Director, Office of Science Advisor to the Prime Minister (Office of Science Advisor, Prime Minister Dept.), Dean in University Industry Centre (UNIC) and Professor for Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering (Kolej University Teknikal Kebangsaan M’sia (KUTKM), Director Centre for Engineering Excellence (CEE) and Lecturer [International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)]. 

He also used to do consultancy services such as The Development of Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi Kuantan (KKTM) in Mac 2006 until February 2011 and involved in publications such as international conference on “Overview of Automotive Industry Cluster in M’sia” (with S Akmal, A A Rahman, M R Salleh, J I Mohammad, A Abdullah) at International Workshop on “Fast-Tracking the Development of Quality Automotive Parts Nigeria, Abuja, Nigeria August 23-24, 2007.  One of Dato’ Abu other contribution was a Advisor, Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT-UTeM) for 2006 until present.  One of Dato’ Abu journal be named “Cutting Performance of Coated Diamond and Triangular Shaped Carbide Inserts when Turning AISI 1045 Steel” (with M Y Nordin, V C Vankatesh, S Sharif, D Sarathy), Pertanika Journal of Science and Technology, Volume 12 No. 1 (Supplement), January 2004, page 73-84.  His book “Pemotongan Logam” been translated from (Metal Cutting By E.M. Trent)”, Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka, 1995 and have been done some research activities too.

As the new president and Chief Executive Officer of Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), his goal to ensure that CUCMS will be one of the prestige University locally and globally as we are now living in a very challenging and demanding world. 

Highly regarded as an authority in management engineering and knowledge management, Dato’ Abu’s services are sought after by universities in academic research.  Among the projects that he had served were:

• Influence of Tool and Cutting Parameters and Work-Tool Materials on Chatter of the Vertical Machining Center – VMC) and on Machining Quality (IRPA-IIUM) – 1999-2001
• Machinability Database and Performance Evaluation of Advanced Cutting tools for Malaysian Manufacturing Industries (IRPA-IIUM) -1998-2000
• Development of Diamond Coating Cutting Tools Techniques for Machining Composite Materials (IRPA) – 1999-2002
