Centre for Graduate Studies, Research & Commercialisation
Although CUCMS is a new institution, we are committed to make a quantum leap into research and development activities. We believe that institutions of higher learning should not only teach established knowledge but must also generate new knowledge. In the health related field, evolution of knowledge is happening at a rapid pace more so in the last 2 decades. The prime reason for this is novel findings from researchers working in both basic and clinical sciences. As a new institution, CUCMS will have to position itself optimally to convince research funders and partners that it need to be taken seriously and has the ability to deliver where it matters. Once this confidence is secured, funders and in research partners will be most willing to work together with CUCMS.
The Centre for Graduate Studies, Research and Commercialization (CGSRC) was formed in 2010 in line with the thrusts of the CUCMS 2010-2015 Strategic Planning which are “to provide excellent academic programmes” and ”to innovate through research, development and commercialization”.
At present, CGSRC is focusing on enhancing existing postgraduate programmes namely the MMed Sc (by Research), PhD and MClinPharm (mixed mode) and helping faculties and centres within CUCMS to develop new postgraduate programmes.
It is also the Research Management Centre (RMC) for CUCMS and hence coordinates any research or research funding activities within the university.
